{"id":4730,"date":"2024-01-31T07:11:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T12:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cqfa.quebec\/?p=4730"},"modified":"2024-01-31T07:18:23","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T12:18:23","slug":"transforming-manufacturing-for-a-greener-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cqfa.quebec\/en\/transforming-manufacturing-for-a-greener-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"Transforming manufacturing for a greener tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 id=\"ember34\" class=\"ember-view\">What is cold spray?<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember35\" class=\"ember-view reader-content-blocks__paragraph\">As a reminder, Cold Spray (CS) is an additive manufacturing process where metal powder is accelerated to supersonic speed and propelled towards a substrate. \u00a0It is the only thermal spray process capable of adding a significant-enough thickness to be recognized as additive manufacturing (CSAM), allowing to do many things such as : Dimensional and structural repairs, \u00a0Functional coatings, and\u00a0Adding features.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"ember36\" class=\"ember-view\">Green, because of how it works.<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember37\" class=\"ember-view reader-content-blocks__paragraph\">Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM ) also represents an environmentally friendly alternative to technologies such as electroplating, soldering, and painting. Presence of hexavalent chrome, a well-documented human carcinogen, during processing of traditional chrome plating applications led users of these technologies to switch to HVOF thermal spray of tungsten carbide, a more benevolent process on this regard.
