Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, vol. 191, april 2025, 108752. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This study explores the optimization of\u00a0extrusion process\u00a0parameters for fabrication of short glass fibre-reinforced\u00a0polycarbonate\u00a0filaments suitable for\u00a0Fused Filament Fabrication. Employing\u00a0Response Surface Methodology, the effects of fibre content, screw speed, and die temperature on mechanical properties and dimensional stability of filaments were investigated. This work introduces the application of\u00a0Digital Image Correlation\u00a0directly on filaments during\u00a0tensile testing, contributing to the development of advanced filament characterization techniques. The optimal parameters\u201410\u00a0wt% fibre content, 40\u00a0rpm screw speed, and 239.9\u00a0\u00b0C die temperature\u2014achieved a balance between high\u00a0tensile modulus, high\u00a0tensile strength, and minimal diameter deviation. The optimal processing condition led to a 148\u00a0% increase in\u00a0tensile modulus, while maintaining good\u00a0tensile strength\u00a0and acceptable diameter deviation. Overall, fibre content had the most significant impact on filament properties, followed by screw speed.\u00a0Fracture surface\u00a0analysis provided valuable insights about the effects of process parameters on microstructure of the composites.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"link-btn-style btn-yellow\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1359835X25000466\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the publication<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tikhani, F.; Hubert, P.
