{"id":6087,"date":"2026-01-22T04:28:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T09:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cqfa.quebec\/?p=6087"},"modified":"2026-01-22T04:51:51","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T09:51:51","slug":"ri%c2%b3d-frqnt-inaugurates-its-concrete-3d-printing-laboratory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cqfa.quebec\/en\/ri%c2%b3d-frqnt-inaugurates-its-concrete-3d-printing-laboratory\/","title":{"rendered":"RI\u00b3D-FRQNT inaugurates its concrete 3D printing laboratory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ri3d-frqnt.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regroupement innovant pour l&#8217;impression d&#8217;immeubles durables (RI\u00b3D\u2011FRQNT)<\/a> announces the official opening of its brand-new large-scale 3D printing laboratory, located at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cegepat.qc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C\u00e9gep de l&#8217;Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue<\/a>, within the facilities of the <strong data-start=\"911\" data-end=\"952\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cegepat.qc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C\u00e9gep de l&#8217;Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This laboratory, along with the acquisition of specialized concrete 3D printing equipment, is the result of a bold vision: to develop concrete solutions to the housing shortage by leveraging faster, more flexible construction methods with a reduced environmental footprint.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A research infrastructure focused on real-world impact<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1411\">At the heart of this innovation hub, RI\u00b3D-FRQNT will structure its research activities around three key strategic pillars:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1811\">\n<li data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1544\">\n<p data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1544\">\u00a0Testing and adapting concrete 3D printing technology to the Qu\u00e9bec context, both in terms of climate and regulatory frameworks;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1661\">\n<p data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1661\">\u00a0Improving the environmental performance of 3D-printed buildings through the development of innovative materials;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1811\">\n<p data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"1811\">\u00a0Supporting business innovation by providing access to cutting-edge equipment and to the expertise of the college and university research ecosystem.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Cutting-edge technologies from Constructions-3D<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"2024\">Several of the technologies deployed in the laboratory are supplied by <strong data-start=\"1936\" data-end=\"1956\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructions-3d.com\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constructions-3D<\/a><\/strong>, a member company of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">CQFA<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2223\">\u00a0The MaxiPrinter was selected for its mobility and compact design, offering an ideal solution for continuous production in Canada\u2014indoors during the winter and outdoors during the summer season.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2225\" data-end=\"2376\">\u00a0The MiniPrinter perfectly complements this approach by enabling the production of mortar components and prefabricated parts for construction sites.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2378\" data-end=\"2541\">\u00a0The Constructimeter stands out as a key tool for the development of new materials, while ensuring rigorous quality control of mixes and mechanical performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A collective lever for sustainable construction<\/h2>\n<p>This new laboratory thus becomes a true experimental platform to design, test, and optimize the sustainable buildings of tomorrow.
