New Financial Support for the Carrefour Québécois de la Fabrication Additive

Montréal, May 3, 2022 – PRIMA Québec is proud to announce that the Carrefour québécois de la fabrication additive (CQFA) is set to receive financial support from a new collaborator, the METALTec industrial R&D group, led by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). This $66,000 contribution over three years will help structure the Carrefour in its early stages. It will help mobilize researchers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, funding organizations and other stakeholders from the additive manufacturing ecosystem in an effort to promote the technology’s adoption, along with training and skills development.

The support from METALTec, whose objective is to find innovative solutions to the challenges of the metal products manufacturing industry through collaborative R&D projects, comes in addition to the financial participation of the
Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec (MEI) and Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) under the Programme d’appui au développement des secteurs stratégiques et des créneaux d’excellence, a program designed to develop Quebec’s strategic sectors and fields of excellence.

The CQFA was launched in 2021 in response to key recommendations from the
Livre blanc sur la fabrication additive au Québec, the whitepaper on additive manufacturing in Quebec. The CQFA will develop, implement and host a service hub focused on the needs of Quebec manufacturers. Beyond raising awareness for this disruptive technology, “The Carrefour will promote Quebec’s various sectors of expertise,” said Marie-Pierre Ippersiel, President and CEO of PRIMA Québec. “It will facilitate the sharing of knowledge, experience and resources while creating business opportunities that promote the growth of Quebec’ AM ecosystem.”
